Delhi Govt follows suit: issue notice to all striking docs
New Delhi, May 22: The Delhi Government today announced that it will serve notices to all its striking doctors, asking them to report for work within 24 hours as their continuous work boycott was illegal.
After reviewing the situation arising out of the strike, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri said medical superintendents of Lok Nayak, Guru Teg Bahadur, Gobind Ballab Pant and Deendayal Upadhyaya Hospitals were instructed to issue notices to all striking junior and senior Doctors.
''It is against the orders of the various pronouncements of the Supreme and High Courts,'' he added.
The Delhi Health Minister said following the line adopted by the Centre, the state government would also advertise for the posts of junior and senior doctors in the newspapers for recruitment.
''The public should not face any problems due to the strike,'' he added.
Dr Shastri said last week resident doctors of 14 hospitals, which are under the control of Directorate of Health Services, have withdrawn the strike and joined duties.
He said OPD units were functioning at reduced level but emergency services were not affected.
