SASB seeks undertaking from shopkeepers

Srinagar, May 18 : The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has asked the tent owners and the shopkeepers to give an undertaking to clear up and restore their places of allotment to their original status so that environmental degradation does not takes place in the area, base camps and along the routes to the holy cave shrine.

A shrine board spokesman said only those shopkeepers and tent owners, who have been setting up their establishments during the pilgrimage in the past, would be given the permission this year as well.

They would be required to submit duly prescribed forms supported by previous permission letters and verification from police stations concerned and authenticated by respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates, he added.

The spokesman said the tent owners and the shopkeepers have to seek written permission for opening temporary establishments at the holy cave shrine and different camping sites via Pahalgam and Baltal routes during the pilgrimage, commencing on June 11.

They would be required to give an undertaking to clear up and restore their places of allotment to their original status so that no environmental degradation takes place, he added.

The forms will be available at the SASB counter here from May 18 to 23, and could be deposited up to May 31, the spokesman said.
