Polling disrupted as AIADMK, Cong agents clash
Tiruvallu (Tamil Nadu), May 8: A clash between the polling agents of the ruling AIADMK and the Congress candidates led to disruption of polling for about an hour at Periaramapuram Village in this district of Tamil Nadu today.
The village comes under Pallipattu Assembly constituency where Government Whip P M Narasimhan is testing his electoral fortunes against Congress candidate E S S Raman.
Police sources said a wordy duel ensued between the agents of two parties over verifying the identity of the voters inside the booth. Soon both of them clashed and in the process broke chairs, following which the polling was stopped.
Tiruttani DSP Veerapandian rushed to the spot and restored normalcy after which the polling process restarted.
