Pramod Mahajan undergoes another surgery

Mumbai, Apr 29: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, who is on dialysis and life support, underwent another surgical procedure today.

A team of surgeons conducted 'tracheotomy' at Hinduja hospital to make Mr Mahajan's breathing easier.

State BJP spokesman Vinod Tavde said, ''Doctors also replaced cilastic sheet for keeping his intestine in. An hour-and-half long operation was completed a short while ago and Mr Mahajan is back in the Intensive Care Unit.'' This is the third surgery he has undergone.

The first surgery was conducted on the morning of April 22 soon after he was shot at point-blank range, allegedly by his youngest brother Pravin.

The second surgery for removing the packs of the liver was carried out earlier on the evening of April 23.

Three bullets, still lodged in his body, had shattered his liver, head of pancreas and small intenstine.
