Mahajan's BP being maintained on reduced dose

Mumbai, Apr 26: On day five the condition of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan remains critical but stable in spite of reduction in dose of medicine to support his blood pressure.

Hospital spokesman, Dr Anupam Verma said ''Mahajan's condition has almost been the same since last night.( However) he has tolerated very slight reduction in requirement of medication to maintain his BP.'' ''His condition continues to remain critical and stable,'' he added.

Dr Verma said the 56-year-old Mahajan is still on ventilator and dialysis. The situation is being closely monitored and managed by team of surgeons and internists led by Dr Gustad Taver.

Meanwhile, the hospital sources said a comprehensive review of his vital parametres will be taken later in the day to decide whether a third surgery can be attempted to further stabilise his condition.

Mr Mahajan's vital parametres have been unstable since Sunday evening and Doctors had performed the second surgery to manage mal- functioning of his kidney and drain out fluids and toxins from his abdomen.

The first surgery was conducted on Saturday morning immediately after he suffered the gun shot wounds.

Mahajan was shot point blank at his Worli residence allegedly by his younger brother Pravin.
