Meerut Fair organisers move HC to stay arrests

Allahabad, Apr 18: The three organisers of the Brand India Trade Fair in Meerut, where a major fire had claimed over 60 lives on April 10 last, have moved the Allahabad High Court seeking stay on their arrest.

While Manohar, one of the three organisers filed a writ petition before the HC yesterday seeking stay on his arrest, the remaining organisers filed similar petitions separately in the court today.

The three petitions, however, could not be heard by the Court today due to backlog of old and fresh petitions.

The inferno at the Victoria Park had on April 10 last claimed over 60 lives, following which the police had lodged FIR against the three organisers.
