Meerut fire: Traders demand interest free loans

Meerut, Apr 18: Local traders today demanded interest free loans for the heavy losses suffered by them in the April 10 Victoria Park fire here.

They demanded that businessmen who have suffered losses in the inferno be granted interest free loans as interim relief at the earliest.

Mr Brijendra Agarwal, representing a local traders body, said the compensation amount given to the fire victims be hiked to five lakh as in the case of the Aligarh riot victims.

He also held the district administration and the police responsible for the fire.
