Karzai for more joint ventures in education, business
Hyderabad, Apr 11: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today said he was interested in promoting joint ventures in education and business between his country and India.
Mr Hamid, who is on a two-day visit here with a delegation, visited the Hi-tech city and interacted with the officials. He was accampanied by Andhra Pradesh Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir.
P K Sridharan, CEO, Larsen and Tourbo (L&T) explained to Mr Karzai about IT parks constructed with the participation of L&T and state governments in the country.
A documentary film on AP as a ideal destination for IT investments, was shown to the visiting dignitary and his delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Karzai said strong foundation laid by great visionaries of the country at a very early stage in the field of education and investements had paid rich dividends to India.
''Now we welcome joint ventures in the field of education and business between India and Afghanistan. We expect investments to be made in Afghanistan by your companies'', he added.
When asked about Hyderabad, he said he found the historic city of Hyderabad very green and clean and well developed in many aspects.
When one of the members from the President's delegation wanted to know whether L&T would help in setting up a Hi-tech City in Kabul, Mr Sridharan said they would consider it, subject to quality of education.
Earlier, Mr Karzai was received at Hyderabad airport by Andhra Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
