Karzai undergoes medical checkup

New Delhi, Apr 11: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, currently on a four-day State visit to India, underwent a medical checkup at the Army Research and Referral Hospital here last evening for an abscess.

Official sources said pus had to be removed from the abscess.

It was a minor thing which required minor treatment, the sources said, adding the Afghan President was in ''perfect health.'' They did not elaborate.

The Afghan President, who arrived here on April nine on a four-day State visit, had a busy day yeterday which included official talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a banquet by President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Mr Karzai, who was scheduled to leave for Hyderebad, would not have been able to undergo the medical checkup for another two days.

He is to return to Kabul on April 13.
