BJP demands CBI/HC probe into Aligarh riots
Allahabad, Apr 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded a CBI probe or an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into the Aligarh riots.
Interacting with newspersons here, Uttar Pradesh BJP president Keshari Nath Tripathi alleged the ''minority appeasement policy'' of the ruling Samjawadi Party was responsible for the Aligarh riots.
''The people who are involved in the riots were being shielded by the government and even those who have been killed by the police while indulging in violence and their families have been provided compensation,'' Mr Tripathi said.
The BJP leader demanded that an enquiry into the riots by the CBI or a sitting judge of the High Court.
Mr Tripathi also alleged that the role of the Inspector General of Police (Kanpur Zone) Rizwan Ahmad was partial and demanded his immediate transfer.
