Advani advocates special laws to prevent terrorism
Surat, Apr 9: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani charged that repealation of Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) by the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was a major reason for the rise in terrorism in the country.
''Terrorism is a new phenomenon and the existing laws are not enough to tackle it. We need special laws to tackle terrorism and the UPA government's decision to repeal POTA had only helped the growth of terrorism in the country'', Mr Advani said here addressing a rally.
Mr Advani also alleged that in Kerala both Congress and Communist parties were trying to help Abdul Nassar Madani, who is accused in the Coimbatore bomb blast case, to appease the minority vote bank.
The BJP leader said ''vote bank'',' politics were threatening the integrity and security of the nation.
