Mild intensity tremors rattle South Tamil Nadu

Madurai, Mar 31: Mild tremors rocked parts of Dindigul and Karur Districts of Tamil Nadu around midnight last night, causing panic among the people.

According to police, residents of Idayakottai, Aravakkurichi and adjoining villages around Oddanchatran woke up to a deafening noise at about 0030 hrs.

People ran out of their homes along with children for safety. A few concrete buildings developed minor cracks at Idayakottai and elsewhere.

Top officials were yet to visit the places where the tremors were felt. Officials at the district headquarters expressed their inability to provide any details about the incident.
