Singer Yesudas faces the heat, says 'women must not wear jeans'

Speaking at Swachh Bharat campaign launch in Swathi Tirunal Music College here, Yesudas said that when women wear jeans, others are forced to look beyond that. "What should be covered must be covered. Our culture involves the beauty which should be covered.
Women's beauty lies in their modesty. They should not try to become like men. They should not force others to do unnecessary things by wearing jeans," he said.
His statements soon were criticised by many women's right organisations, who said that he must withdraw his statement. Many even took to social media to express their displeasure:
Dear Yesudas, so sad u feel 'troubled' & threatend by women's bodies. Y not cover yr eyes? Instead of asking women to cover themselves up!
