Shashi Tharoor Responds After Getting Brutally Trolled For 'Memorable Day In Wayanad' Post
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor recently faced backlash on social media over a tweet in which he described his visit to landslide-hit Wayanad as "memorable."
In response to the criticism, Tharoor clarified his use of the term, explaining that "memorable" means something likely to be remembered because it is "unforgettable."

He posted on X, "For all the trolls: definition of 'memorable': Something that is memorable is worth remembering or likely to be remembered, because it is special or unforgettable. That's all I meant."
Tharoor, who represents Thiruvananthapuram in Parliament, visited Wayanad to assess the devastation caused by recent landslides, which have left over 300 dead and many others missing.
A video he shared on social media shows him helping unload relief supplies arranged by his office and interacting with those displaced by the calamity.
Speaking to ANI, Tharoor mentioned that his office had provided mattresses for those in relief camps but emphasized that "we have to think in terms of long term as well."
In an earlier post, Tharoor described his visit as "emotionally searing," stating, "Picked my way through the rubble to view the destruction in the villages of Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Puncharimattam. Ground Zero was emotionally devastating-just imagining what it must have been like at 2 AM and 4 AM when families sleeping peacefully would have felt a fusillade of rocks and mud crashing into them, crushing their homes and their dreams."
However, a subsequent post that sparked controversy featured a video of his visit with the caption, "Some memories of a memorable day in Wayanad."
This led to criticism from several quarters, including BJP leaders, who questioned his choice of words.
Amit Malviya, BJP IT cell chief, tweeted, "Deaths and disaster are memorable for Shashi Tharoor."
Another social media user referred to Tharoor as an "elite MP" who went to tragedy-hit Wayanad to have a "memorable day."
Criticism also included comments on how using "memorable" in the context of such a tragedy "hasn't gone down well."
