Ragging In Kerala Medical College: Dumbbells Hung From Private Parts Of First Year Student; FIR Registered
A shocking ragging incident has emerged from a government in Kerala, leading to the arrest of five third-year nursing students. These students allegedly subjected their juniors to severe physical and mental abuse for nearly three months. The victims, all first-year students from Thiruvananthapuram, filed a complaint with the Kottayam Gandhinagar police.
The complaint detailed horrific acts that began in November 2024. According to the police, the first-year students were forced to stand naked while dumbbells were hung from their private parts. They were also stabbed with sharp objects like compasses from geometry boxes. The seniors allegedly filmed these acts and threatened the juniors with dire consequences if they reported the abuse.

Abuse Extortion
The cruelty extended further as lotion was applied to their wounds, causing immense pain. When they screamed, the lotion was forcibly smeared into their mouths. The complaint also mentioned that seniors extorted money from juniors on Sundays to buy alcohol. Those who refused faced beatings.
One student, unable to endure the harassment any longer, informed his father about the situation. His father encouraged him to approach the police, leading to the arrest of the accused under the Anti-Ragging Act. All five are currently in police custody and are expected to appear before a magistrate soon.
Recent Tragedy in Kochi
This incident follows another tragic event in Kochi where a 15-year-old schoolboy died by suicide. His mother alleged that bullying by fellow students pushed him towards this tragic end.
