Kerala School Reopening Date: When Will Classes For 1 and 10 Begin In This State?
The countdown for the reopening of schools across Kerala have begun. The students have been enjoying the summer vacation since the completion of exams in March and April.
The authorities from the educational department are preparing to welcome students for the 2025-26 academic session. In this regard, General Education Minister V. Sivankutty on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting with district collectors, local body representatives, and senior officials to assess readiness across multiple fronts.

The discussions emphasized three key areas: structural safety, health protocols, and student security. A major focus was placed on ensuring all school buildings - including those operating from rented premises - obtain mandatory fitness certificates. Officials have been directed to cordon off any ongoing construction sites within school compounds and remove potential hazards such as unstable trees, faulty electrical systems, and discarded equipment, according to a report in The Hindu.
Comprehensive Clean-Up and Safety Initiatives
Local administrations have been tasked with clearing political campaign materials, flags, and banners from school surroundings through coordinated efforts with municipal bodies. Road safety measures including warning signage and speed breakers will be implemented, particularly near high-risk zones like busy roads and railway crossings.
Hygiene standards are receiving special attention, with parent-teacher associations (PTAs) spearheading intensive cleaning campaigns before classes commence. All water sources, food preparation areas, and sanitation facilities will undergo complete disinfection. The midday meal program will operate from day one, with strict enforcement of health certifications for kitchen staff.
Enhanced Student Protection Measures
Authorities are implementing robust measures to safeguard students both inside and outside classrooms. Shops near educational institutions will face increased scrutiny to prevent the sale of banned substances, while school administrations will conduct regular checks for prohibited items among students. New anti-drug awareness committees will be established at the institutional level.
Transport safety protocols have been tightened, with the Motor Vehicles Department mandated to inspect all school vehicles. Drivers and attendants must now produce valid police clearance certificates. Schools will implement attendance tracking systems to immediately notify parents if students fail to reach class on time.
When Will Schools Reopen?
Most of the classes for the 1 and 10 will commence on Monday, June 2. However, the authorities will keep the students updated if there are any changes due to the rains triggered by the arrival of the monsoon.
Well, the good news is that the students do not have to worry about taking textbooks to school as the first two weeks will be focused on social awareness. It will primarily focus on drug abuse, destruction of public property and emotional control.
