Kerala Man Hits A Jackpot, Wins Rs 8.5 Crore In Dubai
Venugopal Mullacheri, a 52-year-old Kerala native working in the UAE, recently emerged as the winner of the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, securing a $1 million jackpot. This prize comes as a significant relief to Mullacheri, who described the win as a "lifesaver" following a period of financial hardship and personal betrayal. Working as an IT support specialist and residing in Ajman, Mullacheri had been entering the draw for over 15 years, hopeful for a win that would change his fortune.
Mullacheri's journey to success was not without its challenges. He revealed to Khaleej Times the extent of his financial woes, exacerbated by the deceit of someone he trusted. "I had recently built a house and was facing huge financial pressures. Being let down by someone close only worsened things. This jackpot came as a true saviour," he expressed. The win is seen as the end of a turbulent chapter in his life, offering a fresh start brimming with optimism and joy.

The determination to keep participating in the draw paid off handsomely for Mullacheri when he purchased the golden ticket at Dubai airport on April 23. This purchase was made upon his return from a visit to India, where he had been spending time with his family. His perseverance finally bore fruit, marking him as the 500th winner of this prestigious draw.
Mullacheri's plans for the future are centered around his family and securing their well-being. With the newfound wealth, he intends to settle his debts and treat his family to a well-deserved holiday. Looking ahead, Mullacheri aims to embark on a new business venture in the UAE, a place he holds dear and where he envisions a prosperous future for his family. "I haven't decided everything yet, but I will definitely take a long break and spend time with my loved ones. After that, I hope to return to the UAE, start a business, and eventually bring my family here too. The UAE is very close to my heart - I can't imagine living anywhere else," he shared.
Following the announcement of his win, Mullacheri's story of resilience and triumph has resonated widely, capturing the hearts of many in India and the Gulf region. His narrative is a testament to the power of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. The Dubai Duty Free expressed their congratulations through a tweet, celebrating Mullacheri as the 500th millionaire in their Millennium Millionaire Series, selected from among 5,000 participants from 123 nationalities.
