Kerala actress death case takes twist: Police questions boyfriend

Thiruvananthapuram, July 23: The death mystery surrounding the 19-year-old Kerala serial artist Shilpa grows as the parents ruled out suicide.

Meanwhile Shilpa's boyfriend Lijin, who was absconding was arrested by police on Thursday, July 23.

TV and film actress Shilpa was found dead in Maruthoorkadavu spot in Karamana river on Monday, July 20.

According to media reports, a girl came to Shilpa's home at around 12:30 pm on the day of the incident. The girl and Shilpa had been playing hosts to some functions. Both the girls left the house to Balaramapuram.

Around 3:30 pm Shilpa's phone went unreachable, her father called the girl who had came home to take Shilpa. The girl
replied by saying that "Shilpa quarrelled and left".

Shilpa's parents received a call from the same girl saying that as Shilpa's phone was locked she couldn't attend the calls.

Later, around 4:30 pm the girl came home and gave Rs 300 to the parents saying that it was Shilpa's balance of payment and left the home in a hurry.

Later Shilpa's body was found in Karamana river. According to the post-mortem report, Shilpa was drowned and police drew the conclusion of suicide. But Shilpa's parents ruled out chances of suicide.

But the case took a new turn, when Shilpa's boyfriend Lijin and his family went undercover. Assistant Police Commissioner is conducting the investigation into the case.

The deceased was an upcoming actress and was an active presence in Malayalam serials and films. She has acted in few Malayalam movies and serials.
