Kerala becomes first state to give Modi's Jan Dhan Yojana full shape

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 12: Kerala became the first state in the country to achieve full coverage of bank accounts for all families as part of the Jan Dhan Yojana launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day this year, a report in Deccan Chronicle said.

The feat was announced by state Finance Minister KM Mani at the Bankers Committee meeting here on Tuesday, the report added.

Kerala has seen Rs 326 crore of deposits in these accounts.

Mani said financial inclusiveness means the state would have sound and safe financial regimes governed by "clear regulatory standards." He also said that Kerala has always led the way in implementing socio-economic programmes in the country.
