Indraprastham Auditorium Owner, Wife Found Murdered in Thiruvathukal Home In Kottayam
In a chilling incident that has left Kottayam in shock, a well-known industrialist and his wife were found brutally murdered at their residence in Thiruvathukal on Tuesday. The victims, 71-year-old Vijayakumar-owner of the Indraprastham Auditorium in Kottayam-and his 65-year-old wife Meera, were discovered in a pool of blood by their housemaid, in what appears to be a gruesome double murder.
According to initial reports, the elderly couple had been attacked with an axe, which was later found near one of the bodies. The housemaid, who grew suspicious after finding the back door shut, entered through the front door-partially blocked by a grinding stone-only to witness a horrifying crime scene marked with bloodstains.

The Kottayam police were alerted immediately and have launched a murder investigation. While there was no sign of forced entry or robbery, investigators suspect personal motives behind the crime. The missing hard disk from the couple's home CCTV system has added a layer of mystery to the case. Officials are now scanning nearby surveillance cameras in the hope of finding crucial evidence.
Suspect with a History
One person of interest is a former employee of the couple-a migrant worker from Assam-who was reportedly dismissed after a conflict. He has a known history of theft and had previously been arrested but is currently out on bail. However, the police have clarified that he is not in custody at this time. The household also employed a caretaker and a security guard, and their roles are being closely examined.
This tragedy follows another heartbreak for the family: in 2018, Vijayakumar's son died in a train accident. That case had prompted a CBI investigation, which is still ongoing. Vijayakumar's daughter, who lives abroad, has yet to issue a statement.
