Maharashtra: Ramgiri Maharaj Booked In Thane District For Remarks Against Prophet
Authorities in Maharashtra's Thane district have filed a case against Hindu religious leader Ramgiri Maharaj. This action follows his alleged offensive comments about Prophet Mohammad and Islam, according to an official statement on Saturday.
The controversial remarks were reportedly made by Ramgiri Maharaj during a religious gathering at Shah Panchale village in Sinnar taluka of Nashik district. The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the event went viral on social media.

Legal Actions and Charges
The Mumbra police have charged the religious leader under several sections, including BNS section 302 for uttering words with intent to wound religious feelings. Other charges involve promoting enmity between different religious groups, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.
Ramgiri Maharaj is also facing First Information Reports (FIRs) in Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts. These legal actions indicate the seriousness of the allegations against him across multiple regions.
Response from Ramgiri Maharaj
In response to the accusations, Ramgiri Maharaj stated that his comments were a reaction to the reported atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. He explained, "The only motive was that Hindus should unite. Now, I will face whatever may come. If a case has been filed, I will see whenever I get a notice."
This statement highlights his stance on the issue and his readiness to confront any legal consequences that may arise from his remarks.
The situation continues to develop as authorities proceed with their investigations and legal processes. The case has sparked significant public interest and debate over freedom of speech and religious sensitivity in India.
