Talk To Your Tech: Google Bard Gets A Gemini Boost

The machines are learning to talk, and they're doing it fast. While we humans have self-anointed ourselves as toppers in the language school, the machines have taken to the realm like fish to water. Powered by artificial intelligence, "non-sentient" machines are conversing with startling fluency. The most promising kid is Google Bard, true to its name (William Shakespeare), and it has earned a new degree - Gemini.
Humans vs. Machines: The Future of Conversation
Conversation is a two-way process; we talk, listen, and then respond. The machines are now increasingly becoming more adaptive. Google's Bard, infused with the latest upgrade Gemini, is now poised to hold more engaging conversations. Humans have limitations; barring a Polyglot who knows many languages, most of us can converse in 2 or 3 languages. But given the repertoire of data, Gemini Pro in Bard can help in conversations in over 40 languages. Bard covers nine Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, and Urdu. It is also available in other languages like Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese & Spanish. The AI chatbot is now available in more than 230 countries.
The new upgrade also allows users to double-check responses in more languages. Jack Krawczyk, who is the Product Lead of Bard, explains, "When you click on the 'G' icon, Bard will evaluate whether there is content across the web to substantiate its response. If it can be evaluated, you can click the highlighted phrases and learn more about supporting or contradicting information found by Search."
Bringing Art to the Common Man

Apart from that, the product now allows more creativity. People can generate more realistic & funkier images with Google's updated Imagen 2 model. Just punching in a prompt like "mermaid resting below Howrah Bridge" or "Superman flying over Bengaluru," and Bard will generate the image. One does not need to be a visual artist to produce such detailed artworks.
Other AI Chatbots Also Offer Unique Features
Google Bard has overtaken GPT-4 to become the second highest-scoring chatbot on the LMSYS Leaderboard. The Leaderboard was created by LMSYS Org, an open research group founded by the University of California, Berkeley. Google Bard is not a solo surfer in the AI-powered chatbots realm. Several others offer a lot more functionalities. GPT-3 has a huge dataset and creative text generation skills, while Jurassic-1 Jumbo boasts of factual understanding. On the other hand, Megatron-Turing NLG can help understand scientific concepts better. Each chatbot has its own unique advantages and expertise, but Bard is aiming for overall dominance. Clearly, the race is heating up, and the future holds a lot of promise. However, there are some gray areas too; the machines aren't reliable; they can give incorrect premises and are found to hold biases. Critics have pointed out that the datasets they are trained on are filled with biases, and hence the responses are found to be offensive and contain false information.
