Is X Down? Elon Musk’s Social Media Platform Faces Second Global Outage This Week

Users across India and several other countries faced difficulties accessing social media platform X on Friday evening, marking the second global outage reported this week.

Thousands of complaints flooded outage-tracking platforms as timelines failed to load and basic functions became inaccessible.

Thousands report outage across regions

According to Downdetector, which monitors service disruptions by compiling user-submitted reports and other sources, the outage peaked around 8.46 pm on Friday. At that time, more than 77,000 users worldwide reported problems with X, including over 6,000 complaints from India alone. Users flagged issues related to loading feeds, posting updates and accessing the website.

Second disruption in a single week

This was the second major outage affecting the micro-blogging platform in recent days. Earlier on Tuesday, X had experienced a similar global disruption, leaving users unable to access the service for a prolonged period. The repeated downtime has raised concerns among users about the platform's stability.

Cloudflare connection issue flagged

During Friday's disruption, Cloudflare, the content delivery and security service used by X, appeared to be operational. However, it failed to establish a connection with X's servers, pointing to a possible internal server-side issue at the platform's end.

"Cloudflare protects this website. But, something went wrong trying to reach it If the problem isn't resolved in the next few minutes, it's most likely an issue with the web server you were trying to reach. No official response yet

As of the time of reporting, X had not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or offering a timeline for full restoration of services. Users continued to report intermittent access as engineers worked to resolve the issue.
