Moderate Hurriyat accuses govt of removing its Facebook page

Srinagar, Aug 27: The Moderate

Conference on Wednesday alleged that authorities had removed its

page and accused the government to be "despotic". Government officials, however, said that they had no idea about the development.

Hurriyat media advisor Shahidul Islam said in a statement that the government was imposing restriction on the social media sites in a despotic manner, revealing its intention of curbing freedom of expression in Kashmir.

Islam said the government showed its frustration by removing the official Hurriyat page from the social networking site and accused it of restricting peaceful activities to control the Hurriyat's popularity among the general masses.
