Videos circulating online showed angry spectators accusing organisers of prioritising VIPs over ticket-paying fans. Many alleged that politicians, celebrities and officials surrounded Messi, blocking views from the stands.

One fan's remark summed up the mood online: "Only leaders and actors were surrounding Messi," he said, adding that despite paying ₹12,000 for a ticket, he "couldn't even see his face."
