Vinesh Phogat To Contest Haryana Assembly Elections 2024?

A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced dates for the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, social media users started speculating and asking will Vinesh Phogat make her political debut?

Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat received a grand welcome at the Delhi airport today by fellow wrestlers Sakshee Malikkh, Bajrang Punia, her brother Harinder Singh and Congress leader Deepender Hooda, along with thousands of wrestling fans.

Vinesh Phogat missed out a medal for India by inches as she got disqualified ahead of the Paris Olympics 50kg wrestling event finals. She was found 100gm overweight. Heartbroken from her disqualification, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling and it seems like she may enter active politics now.

It is said that the wrestler is now planning to pin down the WFI top officials against whom she protested at the Jantar Mantar for months alleging sexual harassment on budding sportspersons by federation members and then chief Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan.

The rumors of her entering politics were also fueled by the presence of Congress leader Deependra Hooda, who had also demanded a Rajya Seat for Vinesh Phogat.

Now, when the state is all set to enter the electoral process, Vinesh Phogat is likely to contest Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 on a Congress ticket, according to reports.

If this happens, the grand old party may surely get a boost in Haryana as the star wrestler has a massive fan following and could be a star campaigner for party in the state.
