Toor, Aldrin Triumph with Gold at National Federation Cup Athletics

On the third day of the National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships, top athletes Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Jeswin Aldrin did not disappoint as they secured gold medals in their respective events. Despite their victories, both fell short of surpassing their personal bests and the qualifying marks for the Paris Olympics. The spotlight also turns to Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra, who is set to compete in the men's javelin throw final on Wednesday.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor, an Asian record holder from Punjab, claimed victory in the shot put with a throw of 20.38m, which did not meet his personal record of 21.77m or the Olympic qualifying standard of 21.50m. Following him were Samardeep Singh Gill from Madhya Pradesh with a throw of 18.93m and Aryan Tyagi from Uttar Pradesh securing third place with 18.07m. Toor expressed optimism about qualifying for the Olympics at the upcoming National Inter-State Championships.

In the long jump competition, national record holder Jeswin Aldrin emerged victorious with a final round leap of 7.99m. Muhammed Anees Yahiya from Kerala and Aditya Kumar Singh from Madhya Pradesh completed the podium with jumps of 7.83m and 7.81m, respectively.

The women's pole vault event saw national record holder Rosy Meena Paulraj clinch gold with a vault of 4.05m, though she fell short of her own national record of 4.21m set last year. Tamil Nadu's Baranica Elangovan won silver with a 4m effort, and Mariya Jaison of Kerala took bronze with a 3.90m vault.

The championships have been a showcase of India's athletic talent, though some stars are still striving to hit their peak form in time for Olympic qualification. With the final day approaching, all eyes will be on Neeraj Chopra as he aims to add another highlight to this prestigious event.
