Telangana Chief Minister Aims to Establish State as Leading Sports Hub
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged officials to develop plans to transform the state into a sports hub. He envisions Hyderabad as a future host for the Olympics. During a meeting about the proposed world-class sports university, Reddy highlighted Hyderabad's history of hosting the Afro-Asian Games. He stressed that the city should be prepared to host the Olympics in the future.

Focus on Key Sports
Reddy suggested identifying sports where Telangana and India can excel. He emphasised promoting these sports and encouraging aspiring athletes. The Chief Minister proposed bringing all university sports departments, government-run sports schools, academies, and training institutions under the new sports university's umbrella.
Training for medal-winning sports like shooting, wrestling, boxing, archery, and hockey should be prioritised. Reddy also supported establishing a sports school in every Lok Sabha constituency. He recommended studying how recent Olympic medal winners were trained to improve local training methods.
Proposed Sports University
The proposed sports university is expected to be named Young India Sports University. This follows the government's naming of a skill university as Young India Skill University. Reddy's vision includes comprehensive support for sportspersons across various disciplines to enhance their chances of winning medals for the country.
In conclusion, Telangana's Chief Minister is committed to making the state a prominent centre for sports in India. His plans include developing infrastructure and training facilities to support athletes and potentially hosting major international events like the Olympics in Hyderabad.
