Sunrisers Hyderabad Enters IPL Final Following Remarkable Season Turnaround
In a dramatic turn of events, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), under the leadership of Pat Cummins, has made an astonishing leap from the bottom of the table in the 2023 season to securing a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final. The team's resurgence was highlighted by a 36-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, marking a significant milestone for the franchise. Cummins, who joined SRH for a record Rs 20.50 crore, played a pivotal role in this turnaround.

"The boys have been fantastic all season. There's a great vibe in the squad as you can see and reaching the final was our goal from the start," Cummins reflected during the post-match presentation. He acknowledged the collective effort of the franchise, emphasizing the dedication of around 60 to 70 individuals who have contributed to this success.
SRH set a challenging target of 175 for nine, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen's rapid 50 off 34 balls, with notable contributions from Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37). The spin duo of Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) then took center stage, restricting Rajasthan Royals to 139 for seven. Cummins and T Natarajan also made significant contributions with the ball.
"We knew our strength was our batting, but we also have immense experience in our bowling squad," Cummins added, praising his team's balanced attack.
Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson expressed disappointment over his team's inability to counter SRH's spinners effectively. "It was a big game, and I'm proud of our initial bowling. However, we struggled against their spin in the middle overs," Samson admitted. He also mentioned the unpredictability of dew and how it affected their batting strategy.
Samson praised Sandeep Sharma's exceptional performance on the slow track, highlighting his journey back into the team as a replacement player. "Sandeep has been outstanding, especially considering his journey back into the team. His performance has been commendable," he said.
Furthermore, Samson lauded the young talent within his team, mentioning players like Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel as promising prospects for both RR and Indian cricket. "We've had some brilliant games over the last three years, and it's been a great project for our franchise," he concluded.
The remarkable journey of Sunrisers Hyderabad from last place in 2023 to IPL finalists this season is not just a story of cricketing excellence but also of resilience and teamwork. As they prepare for the final showdown, SRH looks to cap off their sensational season with a championship victory.
