Riyan Parag's Unbeaten 84 Guides Rajasthan Royals to a 12-Run Victory Over Delhi Capitals
In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match held in Jaipur on March 28, young Riyan Parag emerged as the hero for Rajasthan Royals (RR), leading them to a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC). Parag, known for his burgeoning talent, played an extraordinary innings, scoring an unbeaten 84 off just 45 balls. This performance was pivotal in setting up RR's total of 185 for 5, especially after a shaky start that saw them reduced to 36 for 3 in the eighth over.

Parag's promotion to number 4 this season has proven to be a masterstroke by the team management. Following his impressive 43 in the previous match, he outdid himself against DC, particularly in the final over bowled by Anrich Nortje. Parag took Nortje for 25 runs, marking his highest T20 score with a display that included seven fours and six sixes.
DC, in their chase of 186, fell short by managing only 173 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a valiant effort from South African youngster Tristan Stubbs, who scored an unbeaten 44 off 23 balls, DC couldn't overcome the target. Avesh Khan's tight bowling in the final over, conceding just four runs, ensured RR's second consecutive win.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant expressed disappointment but looked forward to learning from the experience. "Definitely disappointed. The best thing to do from here is to learn from it," Pant said. The match also saw significant contributions from Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal, each taking two wickets for RR.
DC's innings had a rocky start with Burger dismissing Mitchell Marsh and Ricky Bhui early on. However, Pant and David Warner attempted to stabilize the innings with a crucial 67-run partnership. Warner's aggressive play kept DC in contention until he was caught brilliantly by Sandeep Sharma off Avesh's bowling.
Pant, playing his 100th IPL match since a severe car crash, contributed with a 26-ball 28 before being caught behind off Chahal's bowling. Despite Stubbs' late heroics with two sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin in the 17th over, DC couldn't bridge the gap in the final overs.
Earlier in the match, Parag had built crucial partnerships with Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel after RR's top order faltered. Royals captain Samson also made a brief impact with three consecutive boundaries before being dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed.
The match underscored Parag's growing stature as a critical player for RR and highlighted the competitive nature of the IPL, where young talents continually rise to the occasion.
