However, BCCI President Rajeev Shukla revealed on social media that Ashwin's mother has fallen sick.

The BCCI issued a media release stating, "Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency. The statement emphasized the importance of the health and well-being of players and their loved ones and requested privacy for Ashwin and his family during this difficult time.
