Sanju Samson Advocates for Process Focus in Rajasthan Royals' IPL Journey
Rajasthan Royals' captain, Sanju Samson, shared his insights after a triumphant victory over Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets, elevating their Indian Premier League (IPL) journey this season. With this win, the Royals have amassed 16 points from nine matches, marking an impressive streak of eight wins. Positioned at the pinnacle of the points table, the former champions are experiencing what many would call a dream season.

During the post-match presentation, Samson emphasized the inevitability of mistakes in the fast-paced T20 format but highlighted the team's commitment to sticking to their strategic processes. "Mistakes are supposed to happen in T20 cricket, and we reiterate to stick to the process. The results are coming our way, so it is clear that we are doing something right," he remarked.
Samson's performance was a standout as he clinched the Player of the Match title for his unbeaten 71 off 33 balls, contributing significantly to chasing down a target of 197. He also praised his bowlers for their pivotal role in restricting LSG under the 200-run mark. "It was a very good team effort," Samson added, acknowledging the bowlers' crucial overs and the strategic planning behind their success.
The skipper did not miss out on lauding Dhruv Jurel for his unbeaten 52 off 34 balls, highlighting the challenges of batting at No 5 and commending Jurel's composure and hard work during practice sessions. "Form is temporary and batting at No 5 is the toughest job in T20 cricket," Samson stated.
On the other side, LSG's captain KL Rahul expressed disappointment, feeling his team fell about 20 runs short. Despite a solid partnership between him and Hooda contributing 115 runs, Rahul believed they could have capitalized more towards the innings' end. "We were 150 after about 15 overs; should have capitalized on it a bit more," Rahul mentioned, underscoring the importance of giving bowlers an extra cushion in this high-stakes tournament.
Rahul also pointed out the critical role of big hitters like Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran in their strategy while emphasizing the need for set batters to aim for higher scores after crossing half-centuries. The LSG skipper's reflections shed light on the tactical nuances that define T20 cricket's dynamic nature.
This season's IPL has been a testament to strategic brilliance and individual heroics, with teams like Rajasthan Royals setting high standards with their consistent performances. As the tournament progresses, each match offers invaluable lessons and thrilling cricketing action for fans worldwide.
