Pakistan Men’s Hockey Team Gets Clearance To Play in 2025 Asia Cup In India
Pakistan's men's hockey team has received official clearance from the Indian government to participate in the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar, from August 27 to September 7, 2025.
Initial Report
According to sources within India's Sports Ministry, the required approvals have been granted by both the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, enabling the Pakistani contingent's entry into the country. The visa process for the Pakistani players is currently underway, and Hockey India, the event's host federation, has been informed of the development.
This decision aligns with India's commitment to the Olympic Charter, which promotes inclusivity and strictly separates politics from international sporting events. Officials clarified that although bilateral sporting relations between India and Pakistan remain complex and politically sensitive, teams that qualify for multinational tournaments like the Asia Cup must be allowed to compete.

Hockey India has welcomed the government's clearance, reaffirming its dedication to international sportsmanship and adherence to global sporting standards.
According to latest Updates
Despite the clearance from the Indian side, senior officials of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) have stated that they are still awaiting final approval from their own government to participate in two major hockey events in India this year, including the Asia Cup. The PHF has reportedly submitted a formal request and is now waiting for a response from the relevant authorities in Islamabad.
With India's clearance in place, Pakistan's participation is now dependent on the green light from its own government, which is yet to be officially granted. Once confirmed, the tournament is expected to feature all qualified national teams, fulfilling its vision of full international representation.
