OI Exclusive: Athlete Abdulla Aboobacker Reveals How Paris Olympics Mondo Track Changed His Performance
In an exclusive conversation, Athlete Abdulla Aboobacker shared insights about his experience at the Paris Olympics. He said that the Mondo track used at the stadium impacted his performance significantly.
Abdulla Aboobacker said that he had trained on synthetic tracks previously, making him unfamiliar with the Mondo track. "The Mondo track is challenging as there are three ground contact triple jumps," he said.

He said that he faced several hurdles as his coach couldn't travel to Poland due to visa issues, which resulted in missing out crucial practice sessions ahead of the prestigeous Olympic games. Despite these challenges, he noted that the weather in Paris was similar to Bengaluru's, which wasn't a significant factor in his performance.
Looking ahead, Aboobacker has set his sights on several major events. These include the Asian Championship, World Championship, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. His ultimate goal is to win a medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Future Preparations
Aboobacker expressed hope that Mondo tracks would be introduced in India soon. "If the Mondo Tracks come to India in the future, it will help athletes to prepare better," he stated. If this doesn't happen, he plans to continue training abroad to ensure he's well-prepared for upcoming competitions.
He remains optimistic about his future prospects and is determined to overcome any obstacles in his path. The introduction of Mondo tracks in India could be a game-changer for many athletes like him.
