Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold At Potchefstroom In South Africa

India's star athlete Neeraj Chopra has won gold medal in javelin throw invitational event at Potchefstroom in South Africa. Neeraj made the best throw of 84.52m to win the title. This is Neeraj Chopra's first bi victory of 2025 and will boost his confidence ahead of next month's Doha Diamond League.

Neeraj Chopra's best throw record is 89.94m, but today's 84.52m secured him first place. He outperformed South African competitor Douw Smit and was one of only two athletes to surpass the 80-metre mark.

Training and Personal Life

Neeraj has been preparing for the new season in Potchefstroom. During the off-season, he married Himani Mor in a private ceremony in Himachal Pradesh this January. Post-marriage, he travelled to South Africa to focus on training for upcoming events.

The Doha Diamond League is set to commence on May 16, with Neeraj among its participants. The final list of competitors and detailed schedule are yet to be disclosed as anticipation builds for the event.

Coaching and Future Prospects

Neeraj is now under the guidance of Jan Elezn, a legendary figure who holds the world record for men's javelin at 98.48m. This collaboration aims to enhance Neeraj's performance as he gears up for future competitions.
