Manu Bhaker Secures Final Spot In Paris Olympics 25m Pistol Event With 2nd Place Finish

India's Manu Bhaker has qualified for her third final at the Paris Olympics 2024, advancing to the medal round of the women's 25m pistol event on August 2.

Manu secured the 2nd position in the rankings, scoring a total of 590 points across the precision and rapid rounds, placing 2 points behind Hungary's Veronika Major.

A shaky start was experienced by Manu in the first series of her precision round, where only 2 out of the first 5 shots were 10s. However, a strong comeback was made with 5 consecutive 10s, ending the series on a high note. The second series saw a strong performance with 3 10s at the start and an additional 5, concluding with 98 points.

This was followed by an almost perfect run in the third series, where 9 out of 10 shots were 10s, with the final shot being a 9. At the end of the precision round, Manu was placed third with a total of 294 points, missing the top position by inner 10s, as reported by India Today.

Esha's performance, on the other hand, was less impressive. In the precision round, scores of 95 and 96 were recorded in the first two series, with a perfect 100 achieved in the final series, ending the round in 10th place. The rapid round began well for Esha, but scores deteriorated with 9s impacting her performance, leading to scores of 97 and 96 in the first two series, as per media reports.

A total of 97 points was scored in the third series due to 8 10s, a 9, and an 8. In contrast, Manu's rapid round commenced with a perfect 100 in the first series, followed by 4 out of 5 shots being 10s in the second series. Another 10 10s were scored in the subsequent series, ensuring her progression to the final, where she finished second. Manu Bhaker will compete in the final on August 3 at 1:30 PM IST.
