The multi-sports university-level national championship, Khelo India University Games (KIUG 2024) commenced on Monday. This is the Khelo India University Games' (KIUG 2024) fourth edition.

The inaugural edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG 2024) was bagged by Chandigarh's Panjab University, which is also the defending champion. While Jain University Karnataka won the 2021 edition.

This time Seven northeastern states namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura are jointly hosting the prestigious Khelo India University Games (KIUG 2024).

Khelo India University Games is an initiative by the Government of India under the banner of Khelo India. According to the reports, more than 4500 university athletes from across the country will participate in 20 games.

The hosts will organize events like weightlifting (Arunachal Pradesh), archery (Tripura), men's football (Mizoram), men's boxing (Sikkim), wrestling (Nagaland) and yoga competitions (Tripura) across various venues.

The Khelo India University Games 2024 were inaugurated by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur today at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati and it will be concluded on February 29, where the winner with the most number of gold medals will be decided.
