German Ambassador to India Supports Neeraj Chopra for Olympic Win

Describing Neeraj Chopra as a friend, German ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, expressed his hopes for the javelin thrower's success. In an interview at the German embassy, he also wished the German men's hockey team luck in their gold medal match against the Netherlands at the Paris Olympics.

Ambassador Backs Chopra at Olympics

Chopra secured a spot in the men's javelin throw final with a season-best effort of 89.34m on Tuesday. "I wish the German team best for their hockey gold. But, Neeraj Chopra is a friend of mine. And, I am very, very excited to see him, hopefully win tonight. So, all the best to Neeraj Chopra," Ackermann said.

Neeraj Chopra's Training in Germany

When asked about Chopra's training, Ackermann highlighted Germany's involvement due to Chopra's German coach. "He did train in Germany. He has a German coach and he moved basically in the preparations for this Olympic Games to Saarbrucken, a German town next to the French border. So, we also have a stake in that.. we wish him all the best," he said.

The ambassador also commented on India's performance in the men's hockey semi-final against Germany, which India lost 3-2. "Well, I am the German ambassador to India... but Indians did play very well," he remarked.

Support from the German Embassy

Ackermann shared a video on X with a caption wishing Chopra luck: "All the best for tonight, @Neeraj_chopra1, you have many fans here at the German Embassy!" In the video, he praised Chopra's choice of a German trainer and his decision to prepare in Saarbrucken.

"You moved to Saarbrucken basically. And, we will never forget that you graced our National Day two years ago.... Isiliye Neeraj, mera dost asha hai tum jet kar aaogey," Ackermann said in the video.

The ambassador's message reflects strong support for both Neeraj Chopra and Germany's athletes at the Paris Olympics.
