Premier League: Manchester United Triumph Over Everton 4-0; Boss Ruben Amorim Gets Credit

Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United manager, celebrated his first Premier League victory with a 4-0 triumph over Everton. Meanwhile, Manchester City is set to face Liverpool in a crucial match later on Sunday. City finds themselves in fifth place, trailing behind Chelsea, who moved to third after defeating Aston Villa 3-0. Amorim's early success with United has caught attention as he remains unbeaten in three matches.

Amorim's journey with United began with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich last Sunday. He then secured his first win with a 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford in the Europa League. The Portuguese manager, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, cautioned that United would endure challenges before contending for the title. This win against Everton was a promising sign for Amorim's tenure.

Manchester United's Winning Streak

United fans protested ticket price hikes before the Everton match, displaying banners reading "Stop Exploiting Loyalty." Ninth-placed United needs victories to justify these increases. Marcus Rashford scored the opening goal against Everton in the 34th minute after netting his first under Amorim at Ipswich. His shot deflected off Jarrad Branthwaite and found the net.

Amorim's decision to start Joshua Zirkzee paid off when he scored seven minutes later. Amad Diallo capitalised on Branthwaite's mistake and set up Bruno Fernandes, who assisted Zirkzee for an easy finish. This marked Zirkzee's second goal since joining from Bologna and ended his 17-game drought dating back to August.

Chelsea's Unbeaten Run

Chelsea extended their unbeaten streak to six games by defeating Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Despite not considering his team title contenders this season, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca aims for Champions League qualification. Their recent form has brought them level on points with second-placed Arsenal.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring for Chelsea after seven minutes with his eighth goal of the season. He volleyed Marc Cucurella's cross past Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez. Villa's appeal for a foul during the build-up was dismissed. Enzo Fernandez added another goal in the 36th minute, while Cole Palmer sealed the win with a late strike.

Tottenham Held by Fulham

Tottenham's hopes of breaking into the top four were hindered by a 1-1 draw against Fulham. Brennan Johnson gave Tottenham the lead from Timo Werner’s pass in the 54th minute. However, Tom Cairney equalised for Fulham with a curling shot into the far corner after 67 minutes.

Cairney was later sent off following a foul on Dejan Kulusevski that was upgraded from yellow to red after VAR review. Tottenham remains seventh as they continue their pursuit of Champions League qualification amidst stiff competition.

The Premier League action continues as teams jostle for position and aim to secure their spots in European competitions next season.
