Devajit Saikia Takes Over as Acting Secretary of BCCI Following Jay Shah's Departure
Devajit Saikia has been named the acting secretary of the BCCI by Board President Roger Binny. This appointment follows Jay Shah's transition to the role of ICC President. Saikia, originally from Assam, has a background as a first-class cricketer and is currently serving as the BCCI joint secretary.

Temporary Appointment of Devajit Saikia
Roger Binny exercised his constitutional authority to appoint Saikia in a temporary capacity. This arrangement will remain until a permanent secretary is selected according to BCCI's rules. In a letter to Saikia, Binny referenced clause 71 d of the BCCI constitution, granting secretarial powers to Saikia, who also serves as Assam's Advocate General.
The letter stated, "The president shall in the event of vacancy or indisposition shall delegate the functions to another office bearer until the vacancy is duly filled up or indisposition ceases." Binny expressed confidence in Saikia's ability to fulfill these duties effectively.
Saikia is expected to hold this position until September next year. This timeline allows for the completion of processes required to appoint a permanent secretary under BCCI regulations.
