WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Ropes In Ex-Australian Cricketer Nicole Bolton As Assistant Coach
Mumbai Indians have appointed Nicole Bolton, a former Australian opener, as an assistant coach for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. Bolton, who has been coaching in the WBBL and domestic cricket in Australia since retiring in 2022, will join a distinguished coaching team including Charlotte Edwards and Jhulan Goswami.
Bolton's retirement from all cricket formats came in November 2022. Her final match was an emotional one with the Sydney Sixers during the WBBL final. Following her playing career, she transitioned into coaching roles with South Australia and Adelaide Strikers, bringing her extensive experience to these teams.

Bolton's Coaching Journey
The Adelaide Strikers expressed their support for Bolton's new role with Mumbai Indians on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Wishing Nicole Bolton the best of luck as she takes on the role of assistant coach with the Mumbai Indians for the 2025 WPL. We look forward to your return in March."
Bolton had an illustrious playing career, representing Australia in 50 ODIs, three Tests, and two T20Is. She was part of Australia's legendary women's team under Meg Lanning's leadership. Her experience is expected to be invaluable to Mumbai Indians' coaching staff.
Mumbai Indians' Preparations
After a disappointing exit in last year's eliminator, Mumbai Indians are eager to strengthen their squad. They have added South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk and U19 star G Kamalini at the WPL 2025 auction. The team aims to address previous shortcomings and perform better this season.
Their campaign will begin against Delhi Capitals in Vadodara on Saturday, February 15. The tournament will kick off with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Gujarat Giants.
