But who is Pratika Rawal, the rising star of Indian women's cricket? Let's take a closer look at her journey.

Pratika Rawal: Early Life and Cricket Beginnings

Born on September 1, 2000, in Delhi, Pratika comes from a cricketing background. Her father, Pradeep Rawal, is a BCCI-certified Level-II umpire associated with the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Pratika's academic excellence is just as impressive as her cricketing skills. She scored 92.5% in her CBSE board exams while studying at Modern School, Barakhamba Road. Later, she pursued a bachelor's degree in psychology from Jesus & Mary College, New Delhi, as reported by NDTV.

She initially trained at the Rohtak Road Gymkhana Cricket Academy under the mentorship of coach Sharvan Kumar. After playing for Delhi from 2021 to 2024, she switched to Railways, a powerhouse in Indian women's domestic cricket.

A Multi-Talented Athlete

Before making waves in cricket, Pratika excelled in basketball. She represented Bal Bharati School, Rajender Nagar, and won a gold medal at the 64th School National Games in Delhi (2019).

Her understanding of psychology has played a crucial role in shaping her cricketing mindset. Speaking in a BCCI video titled 'Pratika Rawal: Psychology Meets Cricket', she revealed,

"I was always fascinated by how the human mind works. Studying psychology has helped me understand the mental aspects of cricket-both on and off the field."

International Debut and Breakthrough Performance

Pratika made her international debut last month against the West Indies. In her first match, she scored 40 runs, sharing a crucial 110-run partnership with Smriti Mandhana. She also took her maiden ODI wicket, dismissing West Indies captain Hayley Matthews.

However, her true breakthrough came against Ireland, where she dominated the bowlers, bringing up her century at a run-a-ball pace before accelerating further. Her 233-run opening stand with Mandhana laid the foundation for India's historic total.

The Future of Indian Women's Cricket?

With her ability to anchor the innings while maintaining an aggressive strike rate, Pratika Rawal is emerging as one of India's most promising talents. At just 24 years old, she has already made a significant impact, and her journey is only beginning.

Will she be the next big name in Indian cricket? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain-Pratika Rawal is here to stay.
