Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar Visit Simhachalam Temple in Vizag

Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar and several family members visited the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam on Sunday, where the group offered prayers shortly after India’s latest series-clinching win in Visakhapatnam.

The visit came a day after Team India beat South Africa by nine wickets at the Andhra Cricket Association-Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association Stadium on December 6, securing a 2-1 series victory with a strong performance in the final match.

On arrival at the Simhachalam shrine, temple officials welcomed Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar and accompanying relatives, then guided the visitors through the complex for darshan, maintaining standard temple protocol for guests and ensuring an orderly schedule inside the premises.

The group first performed the Kappasthambham Alinganam ritual, which involves embracing a sacred pillar, before proceeding towards the main sanctum for darshan, while scholars later recited Veda Ashirvachanam to the sound of Nadaswaram within the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.

"Kohli visited the temple along with his family members and Team India representatives," the official told PTI, noting that priests then presented Shesha Vasthram, the deity’s portrait and prasadam on behalf of the Devasthanam to all visiting devotees, including Washington Sundar.

The visit linked sporting success with a spiritual stop for Virat Kohli, Washington Sundar and relatives, as the prayers at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple followed India’s decisive result, while officials confirmed all rituals and honours followed regular Simhachalam practices.
