Virat Kohli Sam Konstas Fight Video: Ace Indian Cricketer Fined 20% Of Match-Fee, 1 Demerit Point
KThe International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct (CoC) strictly prohibits any form of inappropriate physical contact in cricket. According to Article 2.12, players breach this rule if they deliberately, recklessly, or negligently make contact with another player or umpire.

Incident Details and Reactions
The altercation occurred after the tenth over on Day One when Kohli nudged the Australian debutant in front of a crowd of 90,000. Usman Khawaja, another opener, attempted to defuse the situation. The act sparked immediate backlash, with Ricky Ponting demanding action against Kohli.
Ponting expressed his views on Channel Seven, stating, " Virat Kohli walked one whole pitch over to his right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. I have no doubt that the umpires and the referee will have a good look at that. Fielders should be nowhere near the batsman at that stage. Every fieldsman on the ground knows where the batsmen will congregate and get together. It looked to me that Konstas looked up really late, and wouldn't even know anyone was in front of him. That man on-screen there (Kohli) might have a few questions to answer," as reported by Fox.

ICC Code of Conduct Considerations
When evaluating such breaches, several factors are considered: whether the contact was intentional or avoidable, its force, any resulting injury, and who was involved. These elements help determine the severity of the violation.
Ravi Shastri, former coach of India, also disapproved of Kohli's actions. He remarked that it was unnecessary and emphasised maintaining boundaries: "There is a line and you don't want to overstep that line," Shastri commented.
This incident highlights the importance of adhering to cricket's non-contact nature and respecting fellow players on the field. As cricket continues to evolve, maintaining sportsmanship remains crucial for preserving its integrity.
