As IPL 2026 approaches, Virat Kohli has set the tone for Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a clear and intense message: there is no room for complacency.

Speaking during a training session ahead of the season opener, Kohli reminded his teammates that last year's success means little if the same hunger is not maintained. "It's only going to get tougher because the other teams are going to come hard at us," he said, underlining the pressure of defending the title.

In a video shared by the franchise, Kohli was seen urging the squad to stay focused and maximise every moment on the field. He stressed that preparation in the lead-up to the tournament could define their campaign. "We don't waste these days. We stay ahead. Switch on now. Let's not waste even a minute," he told the players.

The message reflects a shift from celebration to responsibility for RCB, who lifted their first-ever IPL trophy last season. Kohli's emphasis was clear-past achievements will not guarantee future success unless matched with renewed effort and discipline.

RCB will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28, but for Kohli, the groundwork has already begun.

The veteran batter, who has consistently delivered with the bat in recent seasons, also has a major milestone within reach as he eyes the 9,000-run mark in IPL history.
