"You always made my job easier from the other end," Rohit said. Dhawan's announcement came via a video post on social media, marking the end of an international career spanning over a decade.
Dhawan played 34 Tests, amassing 2315 runs at an average of 40.61, which included 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries. In limited-overs cricket, he featured in 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is, scoring 6793 and 1759 runs respectively. His ODI average stood at 44.11, while in T20Is, it was 27.92.

Dhawan's Remarkable Career
Rohit Sharma's tribute highlighted their camaraderie: "From sharing rooms to sharing lifetime memories on the field. You always made my job easier from the other end. THE ULTIMATE JATT @SDhawan25." The duo formed one of India's most successful opening partnerships in cricket history.
Dhawan's tally of centuries in limited-overs internationals totalled 17—all in ODIs. Additionally, he scored 39 ODI fifties and five in T20Is. His debut came in an ODI match in October 2010, and he consistently performed well for India in ICC tournaments.
A Century of Centuries
Between June 1, 2013, and June 30, 2019, Dhawan, along with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, achieved a remarkable feat by scoring a combined total of 102 centuries across formats. This period was a golden era for Indian cricket with these three batsmen leading the charge.

"It's important to turn the page to move forward in life and that's why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket," Dhawan said in his farewell video message. He expressed peace with his decision to retire after such a long career.
"I am standing at a point in my life where when I look back, I see only memories; and when I look ahead, I see a new world," he added. "I had just one goal in life, to play for India, and I made it happen."
