Team India Will Win T20 World Cup 2024: Shoaib Akhtar

Impressed with Team India's excellent performance at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, former Pakistan speedster and pace bowling icon Shoaib Akhtar has recently made a big claim. Sharing his thoughts during a cricket analysis show, Shoaib Akhtar said he is confident that Team India will win the T20 World Cup 2024.

Former cricketer's comments came in the light of the team's collective performance. He lauded skipper Rohit Sharma for his blitzkrieg 92-run inning off only 41 balls, which was studded with 7 rolling boundaries and 8 towering sixers. Rohit Sharma also surpassed Yuvraj Singh's record of hitting the maximum number of sixers in a T20 match.

Akhtar said the kind of cricket India played against Australia, he is now convinced that Men in Blue are going to lift the T20 World Cup on Saturday.

"Well done India, this is your World Cup now. You should win this and the World Cup should stay in the subcontinent. You should have won the previous too and this too. You deserve it one hundred percent. My support is with you. Rohit's intent is good and his conscience is clear. He deserves to lift the trophy," Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

Shoaib Akhtar also highlighted the dark phase Rohit Sharma and his team went through after the 2023 World Cup slipped from their hands, adding that Team India turned their depression into an obsession to do it.

"What a comprehensive win for India. They had been going through depression after they lost a World Cup that they should have won. They had lost to Australia in the final and that depression turned into obsession. They wanted to hit back at Australia," Akhtar added.
