T20 World Cup 2024: Former Pakistan Captain Blames Babar Azam For Clueless Captaincy Against USA

After the United States of America (USA) handed over a humiliating and heartbreaking defeat to Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, former Pakistan skipper Misbah Ul Haq criticised Babar Azam's casual and timid attitude. The USA upset Pakistan in the super over and shocked 2009 T20 World Cup champions in the match where they were considered as underdogs.

In the post match conversation, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam blamed team's all-round failure, which was not at all liked by former star Misbah, who slammed Babar questioning his "clueless" captaincy.

During a show on Ten Sports, Misbah Ul Haq said, "Since you've picked the squad, we have been saying that there is no balance. You don't have a fast bowling all-rounder. The conditions are saying that play a spinner but you didn't. Very casual approach, timid (captaincy). It looked like we left eveyrthing on god and ended up getting dominated. Babar said we failed to execute plans. Let me tell you, there wasn't any plan."

"There was no plan. When it came to handling the fast bowlers, we didn't know who would bowl after the first over. Both Naseem and Amir were walking to take the run-up. So we did not have a plan for even 2 overs. They looked clueless. In the Super Over, they were pinching extra runs via byes. In terms of fitness, in terms of speed, in terms of smartness, they defeated," he added.

Misbah also praised team USA for being more organized and playing strategically according to the demand of situation in the game which resulted in thumping victory for them.

Misbah also pointed out lack of management with Pakistan cricket team.
