Sourav Ganguly Bats For Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Here's What He Said

Analyzing Team India's performance during the tour of South Africa, where India managed to win the ODI series and share honors in T20 and Test formats, the BCCI President and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly comes out in support of young players who missed the opportunity to showcase their talent. Underlining opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's name, Ganguly said the young opener is full of talent and surely will get enough opportunities in the coming time.

The 22-year-old left-handed opener is known to give explosive starts. However, in the recently concluded two tests, Jaiswal managed to collect only 50 runs in four innings against Proteas' fiery speedsters on the challenging tracks of Centurion and Cape Town.

However, India vs South Test series ended in a 1-1 draw.

"He has played well in the second Test, it's just the start of his career. He will get enough opportunities," Sourav Ganguly said told the media.

"People say a lot of things after losing one match, India is a strong side. But look at the way they have played. They won the ODI series, and drew both the Test and T20I series," the former cricketer added.

Ganguly also praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's decision to join back for the T20 series against Afghanistan slated from January 11. Both the teams will play three T20 games, which will be India's last international T20 series ahead of World Cup.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were away from the shortest format since the November 2022 World Cup defeat.

"Of course, Rohit should captain the team in the T20I World Cup. Virat Kohli also should be there. Virat Kohli is an outstanding player, nothing will happen (to return after 14 months)," Sourav Ganguly said in view to preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in June in the USA and the West Indies.
