Sexual Harrasment and Rape Charges Against West Indies Cricketer: Reports

Serious allegations of sexual assault, harassment and Rape has been leveled aginst a West Indies cricketer. According to reports from Caribbean media, the cricketer hails from Guyana and is associated with current national setup. Allegations have been made by at least 11 women, but no formal charges have been filed yet. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has not commented on these accusations.

According to a report by Kaieteur Sports, one of the accusers is a teenager. The report states: "I have heard accounts from no fewer than eleven women, one of them a teenager, who allege that they have been sexually assaulted, raped, or subjected to unwanted sexual advances by him." This situation has raised significant concerns among fans and officials.

Alleged Cover-Up Attempts

SportsMax TV's video report suggests efforts to conceal the player's alleged actions. They reached out to Cricket West Indies for comments on any ongoing investigations or cover-up attempts. CWI President Kishore Shallow responded: "Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time."

Nigel Hughes, a lawyer contacted by one of the alleged victims two years ago, mentioned that the player was part of the squad that defeated Australia at Brisbane's Gabba in January 2024. Despite these serious allegations, Hughes noted that no charges have been filed against the cricketer.

Recent Enquiries and Public Reaction

Hughes also highlighted that discussions about the player's conduct subsided after his return from Australia. However, recent enquiries into the matter have surfaced again. Upon his return to Guyana after the victory in Australia last year, he was celebrated with a "hero's welcome," which contrasts sharply with the current allegations.
